Sandbach Sharks ASC
Posted by Trinity Mirror Cheshire on January 21, 2009 8:33 AM
Sandbach Sharks ASC are a swimming club based in Sandbach, but with training facilities in Alsager. Members are gathered from areas of South Cheshire from Congleton to Crewe.
Sandbach Sharks is a competitive swimming club. We swim against other local and district clubs in leagues, invitation galas and open (individual) meetings. We also hold an annual Club Championship with presentations to all swimmers at a social evening.
Our swimmers are divided up into groups (squads) according to age and ability. The coaches ensure every swimmer achieves his or her full potential by progressing you through the different squads.
Why not download the club handbook available on our website where you'll find news about the Sharks and our activities.

Help Find Granddads Missing Medals
Posted by Kingsley Road Kid on January 18, 2009 7:05 PM
Just before Christmas last year I discovered that my late grandfather Frederick Darlington, played for the Runcorn Rugby team in the 1890's, and had won three gold medals.
I'm hoping that someone out there may be able to help me trace the missing medals so I can have a photo holding them.
The medals are as follows, a winning gold medal for the Lancashire Senior Competition 1895-96 and 1899-1900.
The third gold medal He won was a Cheshire County Junior Cup winners medal dated 1899 - 1900.
My grandfather played as a forward 121 times for the Runcorn Rugby team between 1895 and 1902.
I would be grateful for any information on my granddad and his missing medals.

Tippy Toes Toddler Dance - Nantwich & Crewe
Posted by Hullabaloo Kids on January 11, 2009 10:58 AM
Tippy Toes Toddler Dance introduces children to movement and dance using the natural actions of the body such as walking, running, jumping, hopping, skipping and galloping
Developed to aid children's physical development, co-ordination, music appreciation, spatial awareness and creativity.
Sharon Burrows, Owner of Hullabaloo kids South Cheshire teaches Baby Sign & Baby Play classes in Nantwich, Crewe & Sandbach. Sharon says 'The response has been overwhelming but I found that when babies reached a certain age they soon got bored and wanted to be up and about rather than sit on their parent's laps. I researched the market and realised there were no specific dance and movement classes for toddlers so decided to set up my own business. I have designed the classes so there will be a real variety every week and as time goes on, your toddler will grow in confidence'
Learning skills such as counting, colour and shape recognition, vocabulary and language skills. Learning is achieved through imaginative movement which is both enjoyable and fun.
Introduces your child to healthy and active lifestyle, all programmes are easy and can be practised at home.

VSO Local Groups Cheshire
About our group
Voluntary Service Overseas is an international development agency working in some of the poorest countries of the world through experienced and professional volunteers. The volunteers share their talents with local communities to bring about lasting change in these key development areas: health, education, social welfare, disability, securing means of earning a living, having a voice with government, HIV and AIDS.
Over 50 years, almost 30,000 people have been volunteers with VSO, making a difference overseas, back home, and in their own lives.
The Cheshire Group supports VSO locally through development education, publicity and fundraising. We try to make contact with prospective volunteers before they go overseas, and we are always interested to hear from volunteers on their return. We also aim to support the families of volunteers at present overseas and welcome them to our events. Please note that many of our events have a social element and provide the chance to meet and talk to returned volunteers about their experiences. Most of our members have themselves been VSO volunteers. We hope to see you at some of our events.
VSO Cheshire sponsored Roger Boultbee from Tarporley whilst he was working on hospital maintenance in Rumphi, Malawi. We then sponsored Ann Thomas from Ellesmere Port who worked in Guyana in Education. Now we are sponsoring Sue Carroll from Warrington, who is working in education in Papua New Guinea.
