Sandbach Sharks ASC have appointed Carolyn Cowburn as their new head coach.
Carolyn joins the Sharks from Winsford ASC and brings a wealth of experience and enthusiasm
"My appointment takes us forward into a bright future" said Carolyn after being presented with the recently acquired swim 21 accreditation.
"The club has an enthusiastic committee- a pool full of excited youngsters, and team of teachers and coaches already to move forward.
I have already been approached by Parents offering support and Help.
With all this in mind I am really looking forward to working with the Sharks and making the club the best that we can be."
The Swim21 certificate was presented by Nik Turnbull, the regional Development Officer of Swim Northwest, who highly praised the Shark's achievement, which was due mainly to the efforts of Chairman Mark Davies, and former Chairman Ian Hesketh.
Sharks have worked steadily towards the attainment of a series of goals all of which are seen as essential if the right level of support is to be provided at each stage of an athlete's development:
Teaching
Skill Development
Competitive Development
Performance
Swim 21 is the ASA's club development model - a planning tool, enabling clubs to help swimmers, coaches and administrators achieve their full potential. It is focused around the needs of the swimmers - striving to provide them with the best possible environment.
It is regarded as the back bone of the ASA's development programme and the more a club puts into the process, the more it will get out of it.
The aim of Swim 21 is: "to provide appropriate opportunities for swimmers at each stage of their development, in order that they will achieve their full potential."
A Sharks spokesman said "This is a great achievement by the club, the chairman and committee. The appointment of Carolyn is essential to enable us to continue the hard work and to ensure that sharks are re-accredited every year!"
